🔥Why Is Pilates So HOT Right Now?

Hiya,

Pilates is such a massive fitness trend at the moment, but it has been around for many years in the fitness industry.

The "OG" Joseph Pilates first started teaching his method in 1925. It's incredible to think that this is over 100 years ago!

Science and knowledge brings many evolved versions of the original methodology - rightly so, after 100 years!!!

These days, we teach hybrid styles of Pilates, according to the creative skills of the fitness or pilates instructor, applied to the real bodies (in all forms and abilities), on the mats in front of us!

I'm a firm believer in modern teaching practices and progression, based on a sound knowledge of the body and of exercise benefits.

Benefits of Pilates:

  • Gaining and improving flexibility

  • Firing up and strengthening the muscles of the core: stomach (superficial and underlying), back (spine, upper, mid and lower), obliques (waist).

  • Improving balance and stability, firing up glutes, quads & hamstrings, as well as lower back and core muscles.

  • Supporting weak or injured joints, with strength work in the legs and upper body.

  • Learning to breathe with the body as you move and stretch.

  • Learning to quieten a busy mind and focus inward, for relaxation techniques.

With so many benefits for our bodies, is it any wonder that there is so much choice out there for your Pilates sessions!

At Flin's Fitness, we offer the following:

  • Mat based, with some standing work before coming down to the mat.

  • Power Pilates, simulating the effects of the reformer, using resistance bands, barres and mini balls, also using foam rollers, gliders, straps and blocks. We swap the kit around each week, to keep your workouts interesting and varied - which also challenges the body!

  • Pilates 1-2-1, with Rosie Flin PT, based at our studio in the Crofton area.

  • Online or On Demand, various styles. Different every week on the schedule, or pick one to suit On Demand.

The schedule is below - you can see an overview of the days / times HERE

Of course if you would like to know more about any of our 29 classes on offer each week, please do message me via any of the channels below.

Have a good week,
